Design and Build Quality
The Eleaf Tance Max is made primarily of zinc-alloy. There are plastic panels on its side. The sides and bottom edges of the device are beveled, which gives it a comfortable grip in your hand. The device is slightly taller and chunkier than most pod devices, measuring about 101mm tall, 31mm wide, 20.5mm thick, and it weighs about 87g.
Quite unlike an average pod system, the Tance Max comes with a powerful 1100mAh in-built battery that will keep you vaping for a long time. Recharging the battery takes just an hour. The USB-C port is located at the bottom of the device.
On the front of the Tance Max device is a slightly elevated rectangular-shaped button with a line in the middle of that allows the LED indicator to shine through. The rectangular button is the device’s fire button. The button is built well so it will not accidentally go off in your pocket. Five clicks are all it takes to turn the device on or off.
The LED indicator notifies you when the device is charging or firing. It also indicates the current battery level of the device. It shines green when the device’s battery is between 100%-60%, blue when it is between 59%-20%, red when it’s below 19%, and it will continuously flash red when the battery requires a recharge.
The Tance max pod can hold 4ml of e-juice (2ml for TPD). The Pod doubles as the mouthpiece of the device, and it is made of a slightly tinted plastic, allowing you to see the current level of your e-juice. One of its sides is flattened so it has a more natural and comfortable feel.
Below the pod is the fill port that has a convenient rotary-fill design. You simply rotate the seal in the direction that is indicated beside it, and that gives you access to refill the pod. Also, on the underside of the pod is the threaded collar that holds the replaceable coils in place. It also doubles as the airflow control which allows you to customize your vape sessions by simply tweaking with the airflow.
The pods go at the top of the device and are connected securely to the battery using magnetic contacts at the top of the battery. There is a magnetic connection to hold the pods firmly in place so they do not wiggle or accidentally fall out.
The coils that come with the kit are different. There is a 0.6 ohm GS Air mesh coil and a 1.6 ohm standard coil. The mesh coil has a slightly looser draw and is a good fit for vapers looking for a direct lung hit, while the other coil works for mouth-to-lung vaping.
